Dear esteemed parents,

Compliments of the season!

We are grateful to the Almighty God for bringing us to the end of first term, despite all the challenges of this year.

We would also use this opportunity to appreciate you all, our esteemed parents, for the support you have given to both your child and the school. We salute your courage and resourcefulness that enabled you to prioritise quality education that we offer, despite dwindling economic fortunes of the country. We pray that God will continue to bless you and provide for your needs. Amen.

Vacation and Resumption

The school vacates on 18th December 2020 and resumes for the second term on 4th January 2021.

Payment of School Fees

We have included your child/ward’s bill in the script envelope. Kindly make payment by resumption date. Learners will be required to present evidence of payment before entering the school premises on resumption. Kindly note that we do not accept cash payment.

A reminder on some policies

A. Clubs and Societies

We recommend that learners should register for at least two clubs - one major club and one minor club - to gain the complete leadership experience that our school's vision promises. Please, have a discussion with your child and collectively decide on the suitable clubs for him or her.

B. Dress code

  1. Learners are to appear during school hours in approved school uniforms.
  2. Boys must cut their hair low to an even length while girls must adhere to weekly prescribed hairstyles.

C. Punctuality

We discourage lateness. School resumes at 7:45am.

Nursery and Primary School, Oko-Oba

A. Review of First Term's activities

Despite the challenges this term, the school carried out some activities and renovations such as:

  • Face-lift and upgrade of furniture
  • Upgrade of the Montessori materials
  • Orientation for new learners in school
  • Weekly show of movies with moral themes

B. A Peek into Second Term

As we pray and look forward to an end to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are glad to inform you that all activities resume fully next term.

Theme for the term:

  • Early learning: garden visitors
  • Lower primary: national symbols
  • Upper primary: ancient relics (back in the 60s)

The aim of these term themes is to inspire our students to immerse themselves through learning into the world outside of the school curriculum. Kindly discuss with your ward's class teacher on the role expected of you to help our learners gain immersive knowledge of these themes.

C. Other activities for Second Term

Pupils Representative Council (PRC) Election

In accordance with our school's vision, our aim is to expose and prepare our learners to the rudiments of leading people, canvassing support and forging a consensus in a manner that is compatible with the dictates of an open and democratic society.

Special Assembly

This will hold on different days for different sections of the school. We will invite parents to observe our learners' performance and talent display in relation to the theme of the term.

Reading Competition

This is to inculcate reading habit in all our learners and make reading one of their hobbies no matter the age.

Mothers Day Celebration

We want to show our appreciation of our sweet mummies.

Abacus Mathematics

This is an upgrade on our curriculum to improve the performance of teaching and learning mathematics. Abacus helps children in speed mathematics, especially at this foundational level.

A competition aimed at promoting correct writing, spelling and pronunciation of words

Games

A robust development of innate skills of learners via indoor and outdoor games

Hand Writing competition

An assessment of various writing styles and clarity

Mictecpaedia

A mathematics competition between Year 5 and Year 6 learners

Open Day

A day set aside for parent to meet with their children’s educators and observe their performances

  • Swearing-in of prefects
  • Refurbishing of high school laboratories
  • Orientation for the new intakes

B. A Peek into Second Term

As we pray and look forward to an end to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are glad to inform you that all activities resume fully next term.

Theme for the term:

  • Junior High School: World Inventors
  • Senior High School: World Entrepreneurs

The aim of these term themes is to inspire our students to immerse themselves through learning into the world outside of the school curriculum. Kindly discuss with your ward's class teacher on the role expected of you to help our learners gain immersive knowledge of these themes.

Career/Entrepreneur Day

A career fair that will expose our students to different career opportunities to consider for their life ambitions.

Art Exhibition

An exhibition of artworks made by our students.

Excursion

A learning trip to the shopping mall to expose our marketing students to the rudiments of buying and selling.

Games

A robust development of innate skills of learners via indoor and outdoor games

Science Competition

A STEM-based inter-class competition

Education fair

This avails parents the opportunity to meet with representatives of different universities in and outside the country to inquire about available study options and offers.

Available Clubs and Societies

The major clubs are the Literary and Debating Society and the JETS Club.
The minor clubs are:

  • Creative and Cultural Arts Club
  • Press Club
  • French Club
  • Home Maker Club
  • Mathematics Club
  • Young Readers’ Club

Coding and Animation
